THE REV. CN. RICHARD VISCONTI JOINS ST. JOHN’S AS INTERIM PRIEST-IN-CHARGE

We are pleased to announce the arrival of our interim rector, The Rev. Cn. Richard Visconti, who will be joining us on Wednesday, October 30. Canon Visconti will preach his first service at St. John’s on Sunday, November 3, celebrating Holy Eucharist at 9:30 a.m. Following the service, we invite everyone to a special coffee hour to welcome him and share in fellowship. Please join us in extending a warm St. John’s welcome to Canon as we look forward to this new season of ministry together.

He brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to pastoral care to his role as interim rector at St. John’s. His journey in ministry and dedication to serving the community are beautifully reflected in his bio below.

The Rev. Cn. Richard Visconti was born and raised in Queens, N.Y. After spending time in Roman Catholic-affiliated schools in his younger years, he received his Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from Hunter College, an MDiv from Sacred Heart School of Theology, and attended the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Anglican Studies. He further pursued theological study at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, graduating with a DM in with a concentration in grief counseling. Cn. Richard was ordained to the priesthood in 1981. He served as Assistant Rector of St.Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, New York; as Rector of St. Mary’s Church in Charleroi, PA.; St. Michael’s Church in Carmichael, CA. and Caroline Church in Setauket, N.Y. He officially retired from Caroline Church after over 18 years of ministry in 2021. Since then, besides being a supply priest in various churches in the Diocese of Albany, Long Island, and Southwest Florida, he has served as Priest-in-Charge at St. Mary’s Church in Tampa, FL, and Christ Church in Bradenton, FL.

Cn. Richard and his wife Janna, an elder law attorney, have two adult children, Cassandra, a neuroscientist, and Andrew, an advertising photographer. When not in their home in Southwest Florida, Cn. Richard and Jan spend the summers in their residence in New Lebanon, NY.
