Next Sunday, June 8th, St. John’s Episcopal Church will celebrate the Day of Pentecost! Pentecost Sunday is an exciting day in the life of the Church during which we celebrate God’s sending the Holy Spirit into the world! Because Pentecost Sunday is considered by many to be “the Birthday of the Church,” St. John’s will celebrate the day in style! Please wear red (the liturgical color of the day) and join us for one service of Holy Eucharist at 10:00 followed by a birthday party on the front lawn. Added to that, those of you who are able to read a second language are invited to–in cacophonous concert–read the gospel lesson together to commemorate the miracle of Pentecost as reflected in Acts 2. (We will have folders of the gospel reading in Spanish, Swedish, German, and French at the ready, but if you speak a different language than those, please let Ursula know and we’ll have the reading ready for you!)
Next Sunday will be a wonderful day and serve as an exciting kick-off to the summer season!
