Join St. John’s Knitting Group: Craft a Prayer Shawl to Welcome Our New Priest

St John’s has a knitting group on Wednesday afternoons, from 2-4. We knit for “Christmas at Sea” a venerable Episcopal endeavor. We knit warm hats, scarves and neck warmers for mariners in the merchant marine and collect toiletries and decks of cards etc. to go into their gift ditty bags.

Now we want to knit our new Priest into our parish.

We plan to knit a prayer shawl, made up of four-inch squares, in the colors of the Episcopal flag, to welcome our new priest on their arrival (we know they are out there, somewhere).

We see this as a whole parish effort and will have kits, with directions to knit a 4-inch square, yarn, and needles if necessary. Each square should take less than an hour to complete.  If you are a complete novice, come join us on Wednesday afternoon.

We are happy to teach you!
