Mission

For one hundred years St. John’s Church has been a valuable and valued presence in Southampton Village and the surrounding area.  Worship services have been faithfully offered to the community, both to Episcopalians and other worshippers.  St. John’s Church remains one of the few in the Diocese of Long Island that offers three services each and every Sunday.

The Church is open for rest and prayer twenty-four hours each day of the year – our doors are never locked. The Parish House is also open to the public free of charge. Meetings and programs held here include several AA groups, music instruction, fundraising dinners and community events.  A strong ecumenical spirit exists among the churches of the Village and parishioners of all faiths work together to serve the needy in our area.  Ecumenical worship services on Thanksgiving, Good Friday and Easter Sunrise are held annually and led by the Village clergy.

Further, St. John’s is looked to as a leader because of its extensive outreach program.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been allocated by the Vestry, as recommended by the church’s Outreach Committee, to projects and ministries within our Village, throughout the region and around the world. In addition, the Parish has always supported the Diocese by freely giving a full tithe of its income toward the work and ministry of the Bishop and Diocese.  Finally, the parishioners of St. John’s Church are encouraged to respond to the Gospel message in their daily lives by works of charity and mercy.

Benediction

Go out into the world in peace. Be of good courage. Hold fast to that which is true. Render to no man evil for evil. Raise up the faint-hearted. Honor all men and women, and remember the poor. And may the blessing of God Almighty be upon us this coming week and forever more…Amen
